Who can resit in November?

The November series is for students aged 16 or over, and it covers GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths only. Other subjects can only be resat the following summer. That focus is deliberate: English and Maths are the two GCSEs that college courses, apprenticeships and employers insist on.

If you are 16 to 18 and did not achieve a grade 4 this summer, your college will usually expect you to resit. Many students take the November paper to get it done early rather than carrying it through the whole year. Adults returning to study can enter exactly the same exams, at any age.

The dates that matter for November 2026

These dates come from the AQA key dates calendar for the November 2026 series, and Edexcel runs to a near identical schedule. Entries open on 2 September 2026. The standard entry deadline is 4 October 2026. Entries made from 5 October onwards are charged a late fee, and anything from 26 October is classed as very late, if it is accepted at all. The exams themselves run from 3 November to 9 November 2026, and results are released to students on 14 January 2027.

The practical advice is simple: do not leave entry until the deadline week. Sorting your entry in September costs nothing extra and removes all the stress.

How do you actually enter?

If you are at school or college, they will usually enter you, so speak to your exams officer first. But if you are an adult, home educated, or your college is not entering you for the November sitting, you need a registered exam centre that accepts private candidates.

That is what we do. Rightchoice Tuition is a registered examination centre on Lodge Road, West Bromwich, and we handle November resit entries for private candidates: the paperwork, the entry itself, invigilation on the day and your results in January. You sit your exam in the same building you may already study in, rather than an unfamiliar hall across town.

Can you pass with only a few months of preparation?

Honestly, yes, and November resitters have one big advantage: you have sat the exam before. You know the format, and your summer result tells us exactly where the marks were lost. That is why our resit preparation starts with going through what went wrong, then builds a focused plan around it.

Our weekend sessions concentrate on exam technique and the topics that carry the most marks, using past papers under timed conditions. For students on our Pass Guarantee scheme, we guarantee a minimum of two grades above your starting assessment, or your money back. Between now and November there is enough time to make a real difference, but the earlier you start, the calmer the run-in becomes.

What does it cost?

There are two separate costs to plan for: the exam entry fee, which depends on the exam board, and tuition if you want support to prepare. Contact us and we will give you both figures clearly, with no obligation. If cost is a worry, ask anyway. Getting English or Maths sorted opens more doors than almost anything else you can do this year.

Next steps

If November 2026 is your moment to put GCSE English or Maths right, do two things this month: message us about your exam entry before the 4 October deadline gets close, and if you want preparation support, book in for weekend sessions now so you have the full run-up. Send an enquiry through the site, call or WhatsApp us on 07811 104801, and we will take it from there.

If you did not get the GCSE grades you needed this summer, you do not have to wait a whole year to try again. GCSE English Language and Maths can be resat in November 2026, with exams running from 3 to 9 November. The catch is the deadline: entries close on 4 October 2026, and late entries cost more. Here is everything you need to know, including how to enter as a private candidate here in West Bromwich.
