Small group session at our centre, Lodge Road, West BromwichWhat our students have to say

Many of them sat those exams in the same building they were taught in, because we arrange exam entries as well as teaching.
Book an assessmentThe tier decision matters more than people think
In-person GCSE Maths tuition at Lodge Road, West Bromwich, B70 8NX. Weekend group sessions, three hours a week, £150 per month, covering AQA and OCR Foundation and Higher tier.
GCSE Maths is three papers, one without a calculator and two with, and a tier decision that sets a ceiling on the grade. Foundation caps at grade 5. Higher opens grade 9 but asks students to carry considerably more content, and a student pushed up too early can end up with less than they would have got on Foundation.
We assess on entry, recommend a tier on evidence, and teach to the AQA or OCR specification the student is actually entered for. Most of the marks we recover are not new knowledge — they are working shown properly, command words read correctly, and the last two questions attempted rather than abandoned.
What's included in every session
Foundation or Higher decided on a real assessment, not a guess.
Showing working properly, so partial credit is never thrown away.
Paper 1 practised separately, because it is a different skill.
Finishing the paper, not running out with two questions left.
Baseline on entry, then tracked against the target grade.
Attend the required sessions and finish 2 grades above baseline, or we continue free.

How our GCSE Maths tuition works
Foundation or Higher, decided on evidence
Foundation is capped at grade 5 and Higher starts at grade 4, so the tier decision changes what a student can achieve and how much of the specification they have to carry. We assess first, then advise. Moving a borderline student to Higher too early is one of the most common causes of a disappointing grade.
Method marks are where the grades are
Most lost marks at GCSE Maths are not lost because a student cannot do the maths. They are lost on unshown working, misread command words, and running out of time on the last two questions. Sessions drill the habits that recover those marks.
Calculator and non-calculator taught separately
Paper 1 is non-calculator and Papers 2 and 3 are not. They need different preparation, and students who practise only with a calculator to hand are caught out in November and May.

GCSE Maths Tuition — your questions answered
Do you teach Foundation or Higher tier GCSE Maths?
Both. We assess on entry and advise which tier gives the best outcome. Foundation is capped at grade 5, Higher runs from grade 4 to 9, and the right choice depends on the student rather than on ambition alone.
How much is GCSE Maths tuition in West Bromwich?
£150 per month for three hours a week in weekend groups. Siblings enrolled together receive 30% off. No contracts and no registration fee.
Which exam boards do you teach for GCSE Maths?
AQA and OCR. Both are taught to the specification directly, including the formulae that are given and the ones that have to be memorised.
My child says they are bad at maths. Is that fixable?
Usually it is a confidence problem sitting on top of two or three specific gaps, most often fractions, negative numbers or algebra. Once those are fixed the rest tends to move quickly. The baseline assessment tells us exactly which gaps we are dealing with.
Can adults resit GCSE Maths with you?
Yes, and many do. There is no upper age limit and adults sit exactly the same papers. English Language and Maths also have a November series, so you do not have to wait for the summer.
Can my child sit the exam here too?
Yes. We are an exam centre as well as a tuition centre, so students can be taught and examined in the same building. Entry is £200 per subject.
