GCSE SCIENCE

Three sciences, one timetable, two possible routes

In-person GCSE Science tuition at Lodge Road, West Bromwich, B70 8NX. Weekend group sessions, three hours a week, £150 per month, covering AQA and OCR Biology, Chemistry and Physics, combined and triple award.

Combined Science is worth two GCSEs and is sat as six shorter papers. Triple Science is three full GCSEs with noticeably more content in each. The first thing we establish is which route a student is actually entered for, because revising for the wrong one wastes months.

After that, most of the recoverable marks sit in two places: the required practicals, which are examined in writing and are entirely predictable, and the maths inside Physics and Chemistry. Students who believe they cannot do Physics usually cannot yet rearrange an equation at speed, which is a fixable problem.

How our GCSE Science tuition works

Combined or triple changes everything

Combined Science is worth two GCSEs and is examined in six shorter papers. Triple Science is three separate GCSEs with more content in each. Students are often entered for one while revising as though they were sitting the other. We check the entry first, because it determines what actually has to be learned.

The required practicals are examinable

Students do not sit a practical exam, but questions about the required practicals appear in the written papers — apparatus, variables, sources of error and how the method would be improved. These are predictable marks and among the easiest to secure.

Maths in science is a third of the problem

A meaningful share of Physics and Chemistry marks are arithmetic: rearranging equations, standard form, units, and reading graphs. Students who say they cannot do Physics very often mean they cannot yet rearrange an equation under pressure.

COMMON QUESTIONS

GCSE Science Tuition — your questions answered

Do you teach combined science or triple science?

Both. Combined Science is worth two GCSEs across six papers; triple is three separate GCSEs with more content. Tell us which your child is entered for, because it changes what has to be covered.

How much is GCSE Science tuition in West Bromwich?

£150 per month for three hours a week in weekend groups, covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Siblings enrolled together receive 30% off.

Do you cover the required practicals?

Yes, and they matter more than students expect. There is no practical exam, but the written papers ask about apparatus, variables, errors and improvements. Those are predictable marks.

My child is fine at Biology but lost in Physics. Can you help?

That is the most common pattern we see, and it is usually maths rather than physics. Rearranging equations, standard form and units are the recurring blockers. Once those are fixed the Physics tends to follow.

Which exam boards do you teach for GCSE Science?

AQA and OCR, taught to the specification directly, including which equations are given in the exam and which have to be memorised.

Can students sit their science exams with you?

Yes. We enter private candidates for GCSE science at £200 per subject, and students taught here can sit in the same building. Note that A Level sciences additionally need a practical endorsement, which we can also deliver.
